Making Time At London Craft Week
12th May 2018
From May 10th to 12th 2018, as part of London Craft Week, William & Son hosted an exclusive three day watch event in collaboration with QP, the UK leading watch magazine. Eight of the world’s top independent watchmakers presented timepieces seen for the first time in the UK since SIHH and Baselworld.
William & Son are proud to be the exclusive UK stockist of some incredibly talented independent watch manufactures and London Craft Week was the perfect occasion to celebrate the passion, dedication, quality and craftsmanship that goes into making a timepiece.
Brands participating were: De Bethune, F.P. Journe, Graham, H. Moser & Cie, Moritz Grossmann, Laurent Ferrier, Ludovic Ballouard and Romain Gauthier.
On Thursday 10th of May, the eight exclusive artisan watch brands came together in the intimate surrounds of William & Son’s boutique to demonstrate the skill that goes into hand-finishing a luxury watch. New timepieces were shown for the first time in the UK and captured the attention of the audience.
On the following Friday afternoon, Chris Hall, Digital Editor of QP, hosted a panel discussion with H. Moser & Cie, Moritz Grossmann and Romain Gauthier debating the role that traditional methods have to play in an increasingly automated watch industry, and how they can ensure survival.
On Saturday, Laurent Ferrier’s CEO, Vanessa Monestel and Romain Gauthier, founder and watchmaker of his eponymous brand hosted a watchmaking masterclass each taking guests through the techniques used to elevate their movements of craftsmanship.
